Femtocell Technology: The Femto-Engine

Ubiquisys is the only company to have separated the femtocell software system from the foundation hardware platform. We call this the Femto-Engine system:

Femto-Engine software: a complete software femtocell, encapsulating experience gained from Ubiquisys’ multiple commercial deployments. Features patented interference mitigation and Self-Organising Network (SON) technologies, proven management and activation systems, plus multiple gateway support and a femto apps platform.

Femto-Engine hardware blueprints: a series of hardware designs backed-up by proven support package for manufacturers.

There are several advantages to the Femto-Engine system. It provides operators with the freedom to work with a preferred manufacturer to customise the device to meet market requirements. It frees the manufacturer to fully cost-optimise the hardware, resulting in a low wholesale price.

And because Ubiquisys deployment expertise is encapsulated in the Femto-Engine software, the end-product is ready to deploy, unlike the “chip and stack” reference designs that have failed to reach the market.
