Ubiquisys – Public Wireless Metro Femtocell a Winner at Femto Forum Global Industry Awards
Company also commended for Enterprise Femto Net, world’s first sub-$100 femtocell and commercial launches by SoftBank and SFR
London, 1st July – Ubiquisys, the leading provider of 3G femtocells, was last week named as a winner at the Femto Forum Femtocell Industry Awards in London. Ubiquisys was commended in the Greater Femtocell Design and Technology Innovation category for its work with Public Wireless on their Colo-Node HSPA Metro Femtocell. The Colo-Node showcases the benefits of shared network infrastructure in the context of 'small cells', leveraging modular capability methodology to drive down costs dramatically for mobile operators. Ubiquisys was also shortlisted in a number of other categories.
“One of the areas of femtocell technology in which there is intense carrier interest is the metrozone, and the potential to make small outdoor cells part of an urban build-out,” said William Webb, Director of Technology Resources, Ofcom and chairman of the judges. “Ubiquisys has come up with a very early product for this much discussed market, an innovation that brings real world metro femtocells a big step closer to reality.”
Ubiquisys was also shortlisted for its commercial launches by SoftBank Mobile in Japan and SFR in France, the Ubiquisys Enterprise Femto Net Solution and the world’s first sub-$100 femtocell, the G3-mini.
The Femto Forum Femtocell Industry Awards recognise excellence within the femtocell ecosystem and are judged independently of the Femto Forum by a panel of distinguished analysts, journalists and industry experts. The award won by Ubiquisys highlights its position as an innovator and thought leader within the industry.
The company has maintained its momentum over this last year with French operator SFR launching Ubiquisys femtocells while SoftBank became the first operator worldwide to offer femtocells – manufactured using the Ubiquisys Femto-Engine system – to consumers for free. Ubiquisys will continue to build on these successes in the future and cement its position as a pioneer within the femtocell industry.
About Ubiquisys Ubiquisys is ranked the #1 femtocell vendor by ABI Research Inc, with commercial deployments including SFR in France and SOFTBANK MOBILE in Japan. This has led to a unique range of residential, enterprise femto-nets and clustered metro femtocells. Its Femto-Engine software system creates a complete ready-to-deploy 3G femtocell, providing proven self-organising capabilities off-the-shelf. Ubiquisys Hardware Blueprints enable manufacturers to rapidly produce low-cost “Engine-Ready” femtocells for Consumer, Business, Enterprise Self-Organising Networks (SONs), Metro and Rural applications.
