Etisalat showcases Ubiquisys 3G femtocell at GITEX Gulfcomms 2008

ZoneGate Femtocell Unveiled as Centerpiece of the Etisalat HomeCell Concept

Dubai, UAE – October 21st 2008 – Ubiquisys Ltd, the leading developer of 3G femtocells, today announced that Etisalat is demonstrating the ZoneGate femtocell at the Gulfcomms 2008 event in Dubai.

The ZoneGate femtocell is a compact consumer device the size of a paperback book that plugs into a domestic broadband connection and gives high quality mobile phone coverage throughout a home or office, cheaper higher quality phone calls, faster mobile broadband and brand new services – all using existing 3G mobile handsets. By offering full-speed HSDPA web browsing, the femtocell changes the mobile internet experience forever, providing a platform for a new generation of presence-triggered multimedia services in the home.

Etisalat is promoting the HomeCell as part of their innovative consumer mobile services portfolio which includes a range of mobile broadband services and equipment such as MobileCam, that can be accessed from any 3G phone.  

Femtocells are generating increasing interest from innovative operators in the Middle East, where they are considered as a cost-effective solution to providing a premium indoor mobile service in the challenging and rapidly changing urban environment in the region.
